A Seaside Wedding in Mallorca – What You Should Keep in Mind to Make Your Wedding by the Water the Most Beautiful Day of Your Life, Read Here!
A wedding by the sea is a dream come true for many couples: the peaceful atmosphere, the soft sand beneath your feet, and the gentle lapping of the waves create an idyllic backdrop. Whether you’re planning an intimate ceremony or a large celebration, a seaside wedding adds a touch of paradise to your special day. However, even in Mallorca, organizing such a wedding comes with its own challenges when it comes to planning and finding the perfect location. The island offers a breathtaking coastline, but not every spot is easily available or suitable for a wedding. So, how do you make your seaside wedding in Mallorca a reality? You’ll find out here!
The Mediterranean as the Perfect Wedding Setting
With long sandy beaches, turquoise waters, and its warm Mediterranean atmosphere, Mallorca’s coast is not only a perfect vacation destination. The sound of the waves in the background, soft sand under your feet, or a breathtaking sunset create simply magical settings for your ceremony-and, of course, for your wedding photos in Mallorca. However, why saying “I do” by the sea rarely takes the form of a beach wedding is something I’ve explored in more detail here. Now, let’s look at alternatives for creating an amazing seaside wedding. Planning a wedding by the water ranges from choosing the perfect venue to helpful tips for both bride and groom.
Best Time to Get Married by the Sea in Mallorca
Wedding planning usually begins with choosing your wedding date or at least a clear timeframe. If you’re getting married by the sea, it makes sense to pick a date that allows you to tie on your honeymoon right afterward. This not only saves on costs and vacation planning, but also places your ceremony in a much more relaxed atmosphere. The same goes for your guests, who will likely appreciate the chance to enjoy the setting and make the most of their travel by spending a few days relaxing. That way, no one has to worry about commitments the day after the wedding, and everyone can start the get-together in the best vacation mood!
Planning a Seaside Wedding
Finding the perfect time to get married in Mallorca is actually quite easy. You’re by no means limited to the summer months or school holidays. With only a few exceptions, coastal venues are available almost year-round-I even had the opportunity to work as a wedding photographer in Mallorca at the end of December. While July and August are very popular months for weddings, I wouldn’t recommend them. It gets extremely hot, the island is overcrowded, and of course, everything is more expensive during peak season. Many couples don’t fully account for costs like accommodation, car rentals, and flights when budgeting for a destination wedding-and these expenses also add up for your guests.
Up until late October, the Mediterranean is warm enough even for softies like me, often warmer than in early June. And unlike the North or Baltic Seas, you won’t freeze in the water during winter, with temperatures at least 15°C (59°F). So, in the autumn, you can still enjoy the full Caribbean-like vibe without having to spend a fortune traveling to the Maldives.
Coastal Weather Conditions
As mentioned, summer here is absolutely paradise-especially if you can relax in the sea or by the pool. It feels a bit different, however, if you’re walking down the aisle in a suit and wedding dress. Along the coast, you’ll often experience more wind and slightly lower temperatures than at a finca wedding in Mallorca, but you should at least adjust the timing of your ceremony to avoid the heat. 3 PM is the hottest time of day and isn’t ideal for a healthy, comfortable wedding. In summer, it stays light long enough to start around 6 PM. Your guests-as well as the bride’s hairstyle and the groom’s shirt-will thank you!
Speaking of wind: usually, it doesn’t require a backup plan for your venue. But when it comes to styling and choosing your dress, keep in mind that seaside conditions can be quite dynamic!
Decor for Your Wedding
Choosing the right wedding decorations is an important step in planning your big day-and it often takes up a significant portion of the wedding budget. The right décor can enhance the beauty of the venue and create an intimate atmosphere, or it can feel completely out of place.
Especially near the water, there are a few key points to keep in mind:
- Reflect the surroundings: Incorporate elements that highlight the natural beauty of Mallorca’s sandy beaches and stunning landscapes.
- Use seashells as table decorations or include them in the bridal bouquet.
- Arrange driftwood along the aisle or use it as place card holders.
- Floral arrangements: If you’re having flowers by the sea, choose soft, gentle colors like pastel pink, blue, and white.
- Avoid plastic! Releasing balloons on the beach is not only outdated but also harmful to wildlife. The same goes for confetti and anything else that’s thrown around.

The Best Wedding Venues for Your Seaside Wedding
Looking for wedding venues by the sea-or at least with a sea view? Welcome to the club! There aren’t actually that many that I can genuinely recommend. Unfortunately, the basic rule of the hospitality industry often applies to wedding venues as well: prime beachfront locations that are truly excellent are rare. Still, I have a few genuine recommendations for you, venues where I’ve had the pleasure of photographing many amazing weddings.
Some popular options are, of course, the beach clubs in and around Palma de Mallorca. For example, Purobeach Palma, Zhero Beach in Magaluf, or Mhares a little west of the island’s capital. No question-you can have an absolutely Instagram-worthy wedding by the sea at these locations. However, it comes at a high cost, often for only mediocre quality-both in terms of food and atmosphere. To book the club exclusively, you’ll naturally need a large number of guests. Even then, you’ll usually have plenty of half-naked tourists lounging, swimming, and making noise nearby. Honestly, I haven’t experienced truly great food at any of these beach clubs, despite what the price might suggest.

Tips for Brides and Grooms Planning a Seaside Wedding
When getting married in Mallorca-especially by the sea-it’s important to choose the right wedding attire. Opt for light, breathable fabrics that will keep you comfortable even under strong sun and on sandy ground. Don’t forget to pick the right shoes as well, ones that are suitable for uneven surfaces and won’t sink into the sand. It may sound obvious, but in practice, this detail is often overlooked. If your dress is full of sand and seaweed after just a few steps, your suit is dripping wet, and your shoes won’t allow you to walk on the beach, the wedding will only be half as enjoyable.
Choosing the Right Wedding Outfit
A Beach Wedding in Mallorca Requires the Right Wedding Attire
For the Bride
- Choose a light, flowing dress made from breathable fabrics like chiffon or organza instead of multi-layered princess styles that drag along the sand.
- Opt for a shorter veil-or none at all-to prevent it from getting sandy or wet.
- Wear flat shoes or wedges, and make sure the dress length works with flip-flops if needed.
For the Groom:
- Lighter-colored suits, such as beige, turquoise, or light gray, look much more elegant against the sea backdrop.
- Choose linen suits-they are breathable, comfortable, quick-drying, and less prone to sweat stains.
- Consider wearing loafers or even flip-flops instead of formal shoes.
Sunscreen and Weather Protection
Thinking about sunscreen and sun protection is essential for your wedding. Feel free to get advice from your stylist, but don’t skip sun protection-your wedding photos and your health will thank you! If your venue doesn’t provide enough shaded areas, make sure to arrange umbrellas. Yes, they may not look great in photos, but your faces in the blazing sun will look much worse. Always plan for shade during the ceremony and reception-for both you and your guests. Ideally, choose a venue that naturally provides shaded areas.
